Sword with Scabbard

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Sword with Scabbard by Khan Muhammad Khan. The sword has a long, slender blade made of shiny metal with a slight curve at the tip. The blade is straight-edged and tapers to a point. The hilt is white with a rounded crossguard and pommel. There is gold-colored metal filigree around the base of the blade where it meets the hilt and around the top of the scabbard. The scabbard is green with a gold-colored metal band at the top and bottom. A brown leather strap wraps around the scabbard and attaches with a gold-colored metal piece with a black tassel on the end. The strap is wrapped around the scabbard to hold it in place, with three black decorative elements on the right side. The background is a plain gray color.
