The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Stirrup by unknown artist. A stirrup with a textured surface made of metal, likely silver or steel, with a rough and uneven appearance. The stirrup is shaped like an upside-down U with the bottom bar being straight; the two side bars curve smoothly upward to meet at the top. The surface of the metal has a pitted and rough texture. The background is gray and fades from dark at the top to light at the bottom. A small shadow is cast directly under the stirrup.
