Curb Bit

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The piece, "Curb Bit", by artist Alexander Calder, is made of metal. Two large S-shaped pieces of metal are attached to each other at one end. The S-shaped pieces are wavy and the one on the left has holes along its length, while the one on the right features cut out hearts. A short metal bar connects the two at one end. A twisted metal piece runs through both S-shaped pieces. Both S-shaped pieces have a decorative heart shaped piece attached near the top. There are three metal rings with tassels hanging from the bottom. The background is gray.
