The Surcoat (Jinbaori) by unknown artist shows a primarily brown sleeveless garment with a hood. The inside of the garment and central panel are made of gold-colored fabric with a repeating pattern of circles. The garment features a red band across the top on either side of the hood. Two gold ties are located on either side just below the red band. A brown band crosses the top of the central panel. The left and right sides have different designs. The right side has a design with blue lines. The left side depicts a design with shades of brown, gold, and blue. The background of the image the surcoat is displayed on is gray.
