War Hammer or Pollaxe

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The War Hammer or Pollaxe has a long handle made of wood or similar material with a slight taper towards the end, and appears to be wrapped in brass or metal strips along its length. The top of the handle features a metal piece that is rectangular and flat. A metal head consists of a central spike or point, with two curved or flat blades extending out on either side, giving it a T-shaped appearance.
