Visor for a Bascinet

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Visor for a Bascinet by Master of the Waffen, a weathered steel face mask with a distinctive shape and small eye slit. The mask is made of steel, appearing worn and aged with spots of darker metal visible on its surface. The top portion of the mask is wider than the bottom, tapering down to a point at the chin. Two small tabs protrude from the sides of the top, likely for attachment. The eye slit is a horizontal opening across the top third of the mask. The background of the image is a plain light gray color.
