Second Yamashita Kinsaku as a Woman Standing in a Room

Katsukawa Shunkō

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a woman standing in a room. She wears a long, flowing kimono with a black, gold, and white striped pattern. The kimono has a wide, curved sleeve on one side and a more fitted sleeve on the other. Her hair is styled in an updo with a decorative piece. She holds a paper lantern in her right hand. The background features a beige wall with a horizontal line separating it from a lower section containing orange and yellow vertical lines resembling plants or reeds. The floor appears to be a light brown color. The artwork is signed in the bottom-right corner with Japanese characters.
