Kabuki Actor Osagawa Tsuneyo II

Katsukawa Shunshō

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a man wearing a traditional Japanese outfit. He is standing and facing to the right. The man has a slender face and short hair. He is wearing a black kimono with a floral pattern in shades of gold and white. The kimono has a wide orange and gold border at the hem and cuffs. A white circular emblem is on the left side of his chest. He is also wearing a traditional Japanese hat that is black, orange, and has a feather. His right hand is holding an object. The background is a beige color with a darker beige line across the middle. There are some black designs on either side of the man that resemble plants. The overall style of the image suggests it is a traditional Japanese woodblock print.
