Rikhaji, son of Karam Chand

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a page from an illustrated manuscript. The page is divided into two sections. The top section shows a caravan scene with several people and horses. The horses are brown, beige, and white; they wear harnesses and travel toward the right. There are six people: one sitting, four standing, and one kneeling; they wear colorful clothing. A white goat follows the horses. The bottom section shows a man and a woman indoors. The man sits on the floor; he wears a red robe and presents a string of pearls to the woman. The woman kneels on a yellow patterned cloth; she wears a pink top and blue bottoms. The background of both sections is bordered by a floral pattern with orange flowers and green leaves on a beige background. Black text in a foreign language, possibly in Devanagari script, fills the right side of the bottom section and a small section at the top of the page. The background behind the page is white.
