Bodhisattva, Probably Amoghapasa Lokeshvara

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Bodhisattva, Probably Amoghapasa Lokeshvara, is a full-body statue of a human figure. The figure is standing on a small rectangular base. The statue depicts a male with a slender build and a serene facial expression. He has a tall, rounded topknot on his head and earrings hanging from each ear. His hair falls in straight lines on either side of his face. He has a short sleeve on his left arm and a longer sleeve on his right arm that appears to be wrapped around his body. The statue's skin is a light brown color with white and darker brown patches, suggesting aging or weathering. The background of the image is a gradient of brown, transitioning from dark at the top to light at the bottom. The figure's right hand is at his side with palm facing outwards and fingers slightly bent. The left arm is also down by his side with the hand in a more neutral position. He is not wearing any clothing apart from a cloth wrapped around his waist.
