

Surya, the Hindu Solar Deity
The stone sculpture depicts Surya, the Hindu Solar Deity, by an unknown artist. The sculpture is a dark gray color and features an oval-shaped relief with a beaded border. The deity has four arms and stands with feet shoulder-width apart. The figure wears a headdress, earrings, a necklace, and an ornate short dhoti. Two of the arms are bent at the elbow with hands positioned near the chest, while the other two arms extend outward from the shoulders, each holding an object. The deity wears leg ornaments and has a sash flowing down one side. The background of the sculpture is plain.
