Buddha Protected by a Seven-headed Naga
The stone sculpture depicts Buddha with a serene expression, eyes closed and wearing a crown, with earrings hanging from his ears. The figure's body is broken off below the chest. Behind Buddha's head, a seven-headed serpent, or naga, emerges. The naga has seven distinct heads; each head is snake-like with a rounded mouth and upturned snout. The serpent's bodies extend to the sides, then upward to form a protective arch around Buddha's head. The sculpture appears to be made of dark gray stone and sits on a flat base. The background fades from dark to light gray. The title of the piece is "Buddha Protected by a Seven-headed Naga".
