The Brahmanical Triad: Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Brahmanical Triad: Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu. Three central male figures with four arms stand side-by-side on a raised platform; they have similar facial features and hairstyles. The left figure has a large rounded object in his top right hand and a book in his bottom right hand. The central figure holds a trident in his top right hand and a rosary in his bottom right hand. The right figure holds a staff in both hands. Each figure has a necklace and a wrapped cloth around their waists. A smaller figure accompanies each; on the left is a figure with a long tail that resembles a dog, the center figure has a child on their hip, and on the right is a figure on all fours. Behind the central figures are two more male faces. The background is rough and textured with a hole behind the heads.
