Snuff bottle with stopper

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Snuff bottle with stopper, by an unknown artist. The snuff bottle is shown photographed in black and white. It appears to be made of a textured dark material, possibly a stone or metal. The body of the bottle is rounded and flattened on both sides to form a roughly oval shape. The short neck is rounded and narrows to a small circular opening. A small spherical stopper with a flat base is inserted into the neck. The stopper looks smooth compared to the rest of the bottle. A very faint line runs around the body of the bottle near the bottom. The background is white.
