Antefix

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Gray stone sculpture, possibly concrete, with a face carved into it. The face has a large nose and mouth with a long snout and appears to have flames or waves carved around it. The top of the sculpture comes to a point. The face is carved with eyes and what appears to be a tongue. The sculpture appears to be broken off at the bottom and there are cracks in it. The background is white. Title: Antefix. Artist: Unknown.
