Vase

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Black and white photo of a vase. The vase has a wide base that tapers in then widens into a bulbous body then tapers in again to a short neck. The base has an ornate design with a thin band of small floral patterns. The bottom half of the body has a design featuring a panel on the front showing trees against a cloudy sky. The panel is bordered with a double line and curved corners. Floral swirling patterns fill in the borders around the panel and on either side are teardrop shaped panels. The top half has a band with a square panel featuring a figure on a wavy background. The neck and top of the vase have a dense ornate design. The background of the image is light gray. Vase by artist unknown.
