Minature meiping vase

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The miniature meiping vase by Shoji Hamada is a black ceramic vase. It has a narrow mouth with a short neck and a rounded body that tapers towards the base. The body of the vase is wider at the middle than at the top or bottom. The surface of the vase appears to have a glossy glaze with small speckles. The overall shape resembles a traditional Chinese meiping vase but on a much smaller scale. The background of the image is light grey.
