The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The bowl, by artist Sakaida Chōbei, is a white ceramic bowl with a wide mouth and a narrow base. The exterior features a black design on the lower half, depicting a large leafy plant with curved stems and leaves. The upper half of the exterior has a floral pattern in shades of gray. The interior of the bowl has a floral pattern in shades of gray, with two large flowers on either side. The bowl sits on a light-colored surface, casting a shadow to the right.
