Unidentified artist

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a horizontal scroll painting divided into two sections; the larger left section shows a landscape with a man on horseback and nine other horses, and the right section contains text in a non-Latin script. The painting shows a man wearing an orange robe riding a dark brown horse on a green hillside with trees. Four horses are grazing on the left side of the painting; one is white, one is brown and white, and two are dark brown. A fifth horse is running on the left side near the top. Four more horses are on the right side; one is dark brown, one is white, one is brown, and one is gray and brown. The background of the painting features green hills, brown dirt, and several trees. The text on the right side of the painting is written in black ink on a beige background and appears to be in a language that uses Chinese characters. There are two red stamps near the bottom of the text section. The entire painting has a beige border around it.
