Accoutrements for a Bride, from the Spring Rain Collection (Harusame shū), vol. 1

Ryūryūkyo Shinsai

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Woodblock print depicts a Japanese-style room with assorted objects. A reddish-brown wooden garment rack stands on the left with a white garment hanging on it and objects on the rack's seat. A green garment with a pink and white obi lies on the floor next to it. On the right is a reddish-brown wooden makeup or dressing table with ornate carvings. The table features a mirror backed by a headrest with a design on it. The mirror reflects nothing, and a tassel hangs from the right side. The background is beige with vertical Japanese text on the left and scattered text throughout. A small white rectangle at the bottom center displays the year "1908".
