Eishōsai Chōki

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

A traditional Japanese woodblock print depicts three men. The man on the left stands wearing a brown robe and head covering; he holds a large folded object. The central figure bends over a seated man, and wears a pink robe with a sword on the right side. The seated man, also in a pink robe, holds a sword in both hands. The background features horizontal wood panels on the left and vertical black stripes on the right. A gray color gradient scale is on the right edge. The print is on a beige background.
