South Wind, Clear Sky (Gaifū kaisei), also known as Red Fuji, from the series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji (Fugaku sanjūrokkei)

Katsushika Hokusai

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image features a mountain with a triangular shape, its peak covered in snow. The lower part of the mountain transitions from a reddish-brown hue at the bottom to a darker brown towards the top. The mountain's base is covered in green trees on the left side, with the color of the trees gradually fading into a lighter green towards the right. The background consists of a blue sky with scattered white clouds. A cluster of clouds is concentrated on the left side, while the rest of the sky is relatively clear. A vertical white rectangle with black Japanese characters is positioned on the top-left side. The entire image is framed by a beige border.
