The body and lid are predominantly black with gold designs depicting a landscape scene featuring trees, mountains and clouds. The base of the jar is not visible, but the bottom edge appears to be a reddish-brown color. The jar sits on a white surface. The artist of the piece is Makuzu, also known as Makuzu Kōzan.
