Lacquer Hairpin with Flowers

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Lacquer Hairpin with Flowers by an unknown artist is a long, thin, black hairpin with gold and blue floral designs. The hairpin has a rounded end on the left and a similar but not identical rounded end on the right. The black base of the hairpin is covered in a textured gold pattern. Two oblong sections, one on either end of the hairpin, have a smooth black background with gold curved lines and blue and white flowers. The hairpin is centered on a solid gray background. The image shows the hairpin lying horizontally.
