The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a black and white photograph of a cricket cage, also known as a Chinese cricket cage or a Song dynasty cricket cage. The cricket cage by artist unknown, has a rounded body that curves inwards at the bottom and a wide, white rim at the top. A small circular mark resembling an 'H' inside a circle is etched on the front. The bottom third of the cage is dark-colored while the top two-thirds are white. The cage's top opening appears to have a mesh material covering it, and a cricket is visible on top. The background of the image is plain white.
