Teabowl

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Teabowl, by artist Bernard Leach, is a small to medium-sized ceramic bowl. The bowl has a wide mouth and a narrow foot. It is rounded and asymmetrical. The exterior features a light-colored glaze with dark brown or black accents. There are two horizontal lines encircling the bowl, one near the rim and one near the base. A stylized design resembling a plant or abstract pattern is on one side. The interior of the bowl is glazed and lighter in color. The background of the image is white. The bowl appears to be sitting on a flat surface.
