Priest's Robe (Shichijō)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Rectangular piece of fabric, possibly a robe. The fabric is divided into sections. There are 5 long vertical sections on the left side, with a narrower panel than the rest on the far left. The other 4 sections are divided horizontally into 6 rows. The background of the fabric has a white floral pattern on a dark background. There are small white square patches on the fabric, 1 on far left, 1 centered in rows 2, 4, and 6, and 2 on the right side, the top one centered and the bottom one slightly lower than the top one. The fabric's surface appears worn. The image is in black and white.
