The Shard (Study Collection) by artist James Welling is a black and white photograph of a ceramic shard. The shard is triangular in shape with one pointed end and a rough edge on the right side. The shard has a light gray body with darker gray and black spots and lines. There are three distinct dark spots on the right side of the shard and a large dark area at the top. A horizontal line runs across the middle of the shard. The background of the image is plain white.
