Unidentified artist

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image depicts a long, rectangular piece of aged paper with a black line drawing on it. The paper is light brown and has a rough, uneven edge at the bottom. A thin black line borders the drawing. In the center of the drawing is a figure sitting cross-legged on a throne-like structure. The figure has short hair and wears a robe. A halo surrounds their head. On either side of the central figure are multiple other figures, some standing and some sitting. They appear to be dressed in robes and have various hairstyles. Some of these figures hold objects or have their hands in different positions. The background of the drawing features swirling clouds and smoke-like designs. Along the left edge of the paper, there is vertical text written in a non-Latin script. The paper is set against a white wall with vertical lines running down it, suggesting that it may be mounted on a display board or hung on a wall.
