Ball gown

Maison Pingat

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The ball gown is beige. The dress has short sleeves and a fitted bodice with a low neckline. A short ruffle trims the top of the bodice. The bodice is boned and appears to be made of smooth fabric. A gathered panel is at the center front. Long dark ribbons drape from the waist on either side. The full skirt falls in graduated ruffles and is gathered at the waist. The bottom layer appears to be a thin mesh. Two curved strips of fabric are on either side near the bottom. The dress is on a headless white mannequin with white hands. The background is gray and white.
