Evening dress

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Evening dress by Madeleine Talbot. The dress is a long, formal gown made of champagne-colored satin with a V-shaped neckline and quarter-length sleeves. The bodice features a low-cut front with a row of buttons and loops down the back, and a delicate necklace is draped around the mannequin's neck. The sleeves have ruffled cuffs, and the skirt falls in soft folds to the floor, with a long train extending behind. The skirt's bottom section features three layers of gathered fabric with fringe-like trim. A sash cinches at the waist, tied in a bow on the right side. The mannequin wears a pair of white gloves, one of which covers the right hand. The background is a gradient of dark gray at the top to light gray at the bottom. The dress appears to be from the late 19th or early 20th century.
