Coat

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The image shows a black coat designed by artist Rei Kawakubo for the fashion brand Comme des Garçons. The coat is long, reaching down to the calf, with long sleeves, a turndown collar and a front closure that consists of 8 large and round metal buttons. There are two pockets on either side near the waist. Two additional buttons are on the cuffs. A rigid, wide fold extends down the front center from the collar. The bottom half resembles a gathered skirt. The background is beige.
