Louis II de Bourbon, Prince de Condé

after Antoine Coysevox

National Gallery of Art

The sculpture depicts the head and torso of a person with long hair wearing elaborate attire. The person wears a cloth that drapes across their shoulders and chest, below which appears to be armor carved with animal and floral designs. The subject's long, flowing hair is intricately carved, cascading down over their shoulders in waves. They look to the left, highlighting their prominent nose, and have a small moustache above their closed lips. The material is very dark brown, almost appearing black, and reflects the light.
