Three Musicians

Heinrich Aldegrever

National Gallery of Art

Three men are depicted in full-length view, standing closely together and each holding a musical instrument resembling a small bagpipe. The man on the left has short, curly hair, the man in the middle has short hair with a slight part, and the man on the right has longer, wispy hair. Each man wears a long, loose-fitting cloak with folds visible in the fabric and what appear to be tights or stockings on their legs. They stand on a patch of ground with tufts of grass and small stones. The background is plain, focusing on the figures. In the upper right corner, there is a boxed area containing a date and initials.
