Duet from "The Trojans" (6th plate)

Henri Fantin-Latour

National Gallery of Art

This print shows a woman depicted in a seated position. Her legs are bent, and she is leaning backward, resting against something unseen. The woman's face is pale, with a small nose and high cheekbones. She is looking to the left, and her lips are slightly parted. Her hair is styled back and adorned with a tiara-like accessory. She is draped in a flowing garment that cascades around her. To the left is a man kneeling by her side and looking up at her. He is holding one of her hands and is dressed in a similar flowing garment. His skin is also pale, and he has dark, curly hair and a dark beard. The background features dense foliage, and most of the print is very dark, making some details hard to see. Surrounding the print is a border of off-white paper with some words written on it.
