Lourdes, 1914, 25th International Eucharistic Congress

Jean-Louis Forain

National Gallery of Art

The image features a semicircular shape in the top half filled with radiating lines converging towards a central point with a suspended chalice. Below, there are vaguely defined, cloaked figures seated or kneeling, resembling a congregation. Among them, the curved lines of shepherd-like staffs are visible. A ghostly figure in the upper right section bears a likeness to a religious apparition.
