Swatches

Catherine Fowler

National Gallery of Art

Six rectangular fabric swatches are displayed in two rows of three. The swatches contain various intricate patterns including geometric shapes and curves. The predominant colors are red, brown, and beige, with shades creating contrast in each pattern. In the top row, there are swatches with semicircles in gray and white, circular dots in red and white on gray, and a red scalloped design outlined in black and white dots. In the bottom row, there are swatches with starburst patterns in brown, swirling waves in red and cream, and wavy patterns in red and gray. The swatches are evenly spaced on a light background.
