Hinges and Bolt

Manuel G. Runyan

National Gallery of Art

Three rusted metal objects are depicted. The largest object is a long, pointed strap hinge with round holes running diagonally from the bottom left to the top right. Next to it, there is another L-shaped metal piece with a shorter length sitting vertically on the right side. The third object, similar in shape to the first, lies between them but is thinner and slightly shorter. The color palette consists of earthy tones, mainly various shades of brown with hints of reddish rust. The individual objects are laid against a plain, neutral beige background, positioned close to each other near the center of the image.
