Geometric Weather Vane

Laura Bilodeau

National Gallery of Art

The image features wooden shapes arranged vertically. The top part consists of interlocking diamond shapes that transition into more open diamond cutouts. The lower part contains symmetrical curved lines ending in spirals. The composition gives the impression of a stylized totem or emblem, as well as a plant or tribal symbol. The design can also be associated with a decorative artifact or a simplified representation of an owl.
