This painting depicts a group of people gathered in a room. Two men are seated, with one reading papers and the other holding a palette and paint brushes. Several standing people are gathered around these seated people, including a variety of men and women dressed in long, brightly-colored gowns or suits and jackets. Near the center a woman is holding a baby. All of the people have pale skin and most have brown hair, except for one man with gray hair. In the background, there is a large canvas or easel. On the wall on the right, there are three paintings, one of which is framed. The room's walls are decorated in muted tones of pale green, brown, and yellow. The brushstrokes of the background are thick and visible.
