Les divers pourtraicts et figures VI

Master AD

National Gallery of Art

The composition is divided into four arched sections, each containing a distinct figure. The first arch on the left contains a figure holding an animal hide over its head, with the hide draping down behind. The second figure appears to have clear musculature, holding an item overhead resembling a bushy tail or plume. Within the third arch, a figure stands with an exaggerated musculature, holding a club or staff. In the final arch, a skeletal figure is shown in a dynamic posture, also holding a staff. The arches are decorated with columns and the figures share a continuous, textured background.
