The painting depicts an outdoor equestrian scene featuring riders on horseback. Closest to us is a low fence of thin wooden logs. Three riders on horseback are jumping over the fence, as are a line of dogs. One of the riders is blowing a horn, and another seems to have fallen off his horse and is sitting on the ground near the bottom right corner. Beyond the fence is a yellow field, and at the edge of the field are two red buildings that more dogs and riders are heading towards. Surrounding the buildings are green trees, and in the background on the right are distant hills painted in grays and browns. The sky above shows blue tones with fluffy white clouds.
