Alfonso V of Aragon, 1394-1458, King of Naples and Sicily 1443 [obverse]
The round bas-relief medal features the profile of a human subject wearing attire with an ornate neck collar or cape. The material appears to be metal, with detailed engravings. To the subject's left is a helmet, and to the right is a monarch's crown. Inscriptions on the sculpture include "DIVVS ALPHONSVS REX" at the top and "TRIVMPHATOR ET PACIFICVS" at the bottom. Engravings near the crown show the numbers "M CCCC" and "XLVIIII," possibly indicating a date in Roman numerals. The sculpture shows signs of aging, giving it a historical and antique appearance.
