Shield of Bentivoglio [reverse]

Bolognese 15th Century

National Gallery of Art

This is a photograph of an ancient coin. The surface of the coin is worn and shows an engraved design in the form of a shield shape in the middle, with the Roman numeral "VII" on it. Around the shield are letters in Latin that encircle the outer edge, although some parts are worn and difficult to read clearly. The edges of the coin are not perfectly circular, suggesting some age and wear.
