God the Father in the Clouds [reverse]

Niccolò Fiorentino

National Gallery of Art

The sculpture is a round medal depicting a clouded sky scene at its upper half, with an angelic figure emerging from the clouds. The figure appears to have wings and is partially enveloped in swirling clouds. The material of the medal is bronze, with a brownish hue and patches of green oxidation. Below the cloud scene, across the lower half of the medal, an inscription reads "SATIABOR CV APPARV ERIT" in embossed Latin capital letters. The script is evenly spaced and raised from the surface, contrasting against the darker background of the medal. The entire piece is circular and shows signs of wear.
