Medalist of 1518

National Gallery of Art

The sculpture is a profile relief of a man with a large, rounded hat and shoulder-length hair. It is rendered on a round, flat medallion, with the man's profile in the center, facing right. The surrounding inscription reads "IOHANNES DE" with the year "1515" inscribed below. The sculpture is a dark bronze color and exhibits a weathered texture on the surface. There is a small hole near the top of the medallion. The craftsmanship allows for detailed depiction of facial features and clothing.
