The Parable of the Rich Fool

Adriaen Collaert after Hans Bol

National Gallery of Art

This print shows a vast landscape with various buildings and trees below a high horizon line. In the bottom right corner, there are four men in robes, one with his arm outstretched. On the left is a man sitting below a tree and workers on a rooftop. In the bottom left corner are animals such as pigs, birds, and a dog, near an opening in another building. In the distance there are more people working the land or walking across a winding path. There are more buildings, including small houses, bridges, towers, and what looks like a castle on a hill on the right. The sun radiates beams across the sky, and the outline of a lobster or similar animal is inside it. At the bottom of the print are some lines of text.
