Exposition universelle: La Fabricant de chapeaux de feutre

Charles Maurand after Honoré Daumier

National Gallery of Art

The image shows four individuals in different positions. The individual on the right is holding a rabbit or similar animal by its front paws, lifting it high. They wear a dark, striped suit with a white shirt and a cravat, with wide eyes and an elongated face framed by curly hair. To the left, two more individuals stand closely together, observing the animal. The central figure wears a dark cloak and headscarf, with a round face, while the other wears a tall hat, coat, and shirt. The fourth person, standing slightly behind them, is shorter and also wearing a hat. The background consists of abstract, circular patterns and sketches of hands and a crucifix.
