Plate 13: A Tiger, a Lynx, and a Jaguar(?)

Joris Hoefnagel

National Gallery of Art

This is a drawing of three different wild cats on a grassy terrain with a cactus. The image illustrates a tiger, a lynx, and a leopard within a circular composition. The tiger stands on a patch of green grass. Above the tiger, the lynx is on a tree branch. The leopard is crouching on the right side near a cactus. Latin text is scripted above and below the image. The number "XIII" is written on the right side. The drawing combines artistic skill with a zoological study aspect.
