This painting shows two men standing side by side, both partially turned to the right. The man on the left is reading a book and holding a wooden staff. He has a long white beard and wears a black robe and a red cap. The man on the right has a round, balding head with traces of gray hair above his ear, and his face is gaunt. He wears a brown robe and holds a large circular object with a yellow sun-like shape on a black background, some letters at the center and more words around the rim. Both men have pale skin and dark brown halos around their heads. The background shows tall red and gray rocks, a distant gray building, and a thin tree with dark leaves, all under a blue sky. The painting is framed by a gray arch.
